Connections can be concealed
The attachment may pass through a finish or waterproofing layer into backing. Access can require opening an area that looked unrelated to the visible damage.
Plan restoration before removal
Ask which deck, wall or stair finishes will be disturbed and how they are restored. A connection repair should not leave the surrounding work undefined.
Coordinate design and water details
The structural connection and exterior-water detailing must work together where applicable. A generic sealant bead is not a universal repair detail.
Keep a useful work record
Photographs before closure can document what was installed. Required inspections and design reviews remain separate from a contractor photo record.
Photos help start the review. Access, concealed conditions and required professional review can change the construction scope.
